Prohibits employers (persons, firms, corporations, state agencies, local governments, and public or private entities) from denying employment or discharging employees based on traits historically associated with race, hair texture, or protective hairstyles

Defines "protective hairstyles" to include bantu knots, braids, locks, and twists

Expands the definition of "race" under employment discrimination law to include hair texture, hair type, and protective hairstyles

Allows employers to discharge employees for cause unrelated to hairstyle or hair texture discrimination

Becomes effective upon passage into law
