H.B. 173 Summary

• Separates the Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice into two independent divisions: the Division of Adult Correction and the Division of Juvenile Justice within the Department of Public Safety, effective July 1, 2021.

• Transfers all statutory authority, powers, duties, functions, personnel, records, property, and unexpended appropriations from the former combined division to the respective new divisions.

• Appropriates $990,000 in recurring funds for the 2021-2023 fiscal biennium to provide annualized funding for seven full-time equivalent positions in the Division of Juvenile Justice.
