Amends G.S. 15-11.1(b1) to allow courts to order destruction of seized firearms under three conditions: lacking a legible, unique identification number; being unsafe due to wear, damage, age, or modification; or being used in assaulting a law enforcement officer or causing serious bodily injury or death to a victim.

Firearm destruction under the assault/injury condition requires that the rightful owner be the defendant, a member of the defendant's immediate family, or a member of the defendant's current household, and that the district attorney request destruction.

Sheriff must maintain records of all firearm destructions ordered under this law.

Exempts firearms seized under wildlife hunting violations from these destruction provisions.

Becomes effective July 1, 2021, and applies to all firearms seized on or after that date.
