Changes Craven County Board of Education elections from nonpartisan to partisan beginning in 2022, with candidates nominated and elected on a partisan basis in even-numbered years.

Board consists of seven members, one elected from each of the seven districts established by the Craven County Board of Education in 2011, with candidates required to reside in their district.

Members elected starting in 2022 shall serve staggered four-year terms and be elected every two years as terms expire.

Vacancies for positions elected on a nonpartisan basis in 2018 or 2020 are filled under G.S. 115C-37(f), while vacancies for positions elected on a partisan basis beginning in 2022 are filled under G.S. 115C-37.1.

Members elected in 2018 or 2020 continue serving until their successors are elected and qualified; act is effective upon becoming law and applies to all elections held on or after that date.
