Repeals G.S. 7A-4.20, which established mandatory retirement age limits for justices, judges, and magistrates of the General Court of Justice in North Carolina.

Removes age-based restrictions from emergency justice and judge commission provisions, allowing retired judges to continue serving without age limits upon Governor approval.

Eliminates language specifying that emergency commissions terminate when judges reach mandatory retirement age, replacing it with indefinite service provisions.

Removes age limits for magistrates, eliminating the requirement that magistrates retire by the last day of the month they reach mandatory retirement age.

Takes effect immediately upon enactment, with a savings clause protecting retirement applications submitted before the bill's effective date.
