H370 - Veterans Employment Act

• Occupational and State agency licensing boards must file military applicant data electronically with the Secretary of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs by October 31 annually, and beginning July 1, 2022, must identify the person responsible for filing this information.

• Licensing boards must include a question on applications requiring applicants to indicate whether they are military-trained or military spouses to determine eligibility for expedited licensing.

• Extends Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children protections to children of inactive National Guard and Reserve members in North Carolina beginning with the 2022-2023 school year.

• Expands state employment preference for eligible veterans and eligible National Guard members to include peacetime service-connected disabilities and their spouses, applying preference to initial employment, promotions, reassignments, and horizontal transfers.

• Authorizes North Carolina counties and cities to enter into Intergovernmental Support Agreements with military branches to provide installation-support services under federal law 10 U.S.C. § 2679.
