Updates the code of judicial conduct for Administrative Law Judges (ALJs) in North Carolina from the August 1998 Model Code to the August 2018 American Bar Association Model Code of Judicial Conduct for State Administrative Law Judges, as amended

Maintains existing restrictions on private practice of law and political activity, with G.S. 126-13 controlling political activity instead of Canon 5, and Rule 3.10 of Canon 4G controlling private practice restrictions

Specifies that violation of the private practice prohibition constitutes just cause for disciplinary action under Chapter 126 and grounds for removal from office by the Director of the Office of Administrative Hearings

Establishes that failure to comply with the Model Code provisions may constitute just cause for disciplinary action and removal from office

Becomes effective upon enactment and applies to conduct occurring on or after the effective date
