State Board of Education shall integrate education on the Holocaust and genocide into English, social studies courses, and other appropriate courses in middle and high schools.

State Board of Education shall develop a curriculum for an optional Holocaust Studies elective course that may be offered in middle schools and high schools.

Department of Public Instruction shall provide curriculum content and professional development, working with the North Carolina Council on the Holocaust and North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching to implement the requirements.

Appropriates $250,000 in nonrecurring funds for fiscal year 2021-2022 and $250,000 for fiscal year 2022-2023 to acquire curriculum content and implement professional development on the Holocaust and genocide.

Act becomes effective upon enactment and applies beginning with the 2023-2024 school year.
