H 757 - The Police Use-of-Force Transparency Act

• Department of Justice shall develop and maintain a statewide database tracking all critical incident data involving law enforcement officer use of force resulting in death or serious bodily injury

• All law enforcement agencies including State Highway Patrol, State Bureau of Investigation, county sheriffs' offices, municipal police departments, campus police agencies, and company police agencies must provide requested use of force information to the Department of Justice

• Department of Justice shall consult with the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission and the Sheriffs' Education and Training Standards Commission in developing the database

• Information collected that is confidential under State or federal law shall remain confidential

• Act becomes effective October 1, 2021
