Public bodies within a declared emergency area may conduct remote meetings throughout the duration of the emergency declaration in compliance with this statute and Article 33C of Chapter 143.

Compliance with the statute establishes a presumption that a remote meeting is open to the public.

If a public body wishes to amend a previously issued meeting notice to include remote participation, the amended notice must be issued at least 6 hours before the meeting and posted according to statutory requirements.

Public bodies may conduct any legally required or authorized public hearing remotely and accept written comments on the hearing subject between publication of required notice and 24 hours after the scheduled hearing start time.

The act became effective July 1, 2021, and applies to all remote meetings held on or after that date.
