Facility administrators must report attempted suicides by inmates in local confinement facilities to the local or district health director and the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services within five days of the incident.

The Department of Health and Human Services must conduct a compliance review following each reported suicide attempt to assess the facility's adherence to suicide prevention programs and relevant minimum standards.

The Department must submit a written report of its findings to the local or district health director, governing body, and other responsible local officials within 30 days of completing the inspection.

Appropriates $186,702 in recurring annual funds for each year of the 2021-2023 fiscal biennium to hire two full-time Jail Inspectors to perform facility inspections.

Appropriates $110,296 in recurring annual funds for each year of the 2021-2023 fiscal biennium to hire one full-time Facility Compliance Consultant II to conduct compliance reviews of reported suicide attempts.
