Honors the life and memory of Melanie Wade Goodwin, a former North Carolina House member who passed away on September 1, 2020, after a decade-long battle with cancer.

Recognizes Goodwin's professional accomplishments including serving as Special Projects Director for the North Carolina Council for Women (1992-1997), opening a law practice in 2000, and serving three terms in the House of Representatives representing Richmond and Montgomery Counties (2005-2010).

Notes Goodwin held several House leadership positions including chair of the House Election Laws and Campaign Finance Reform Committee and sponsored legislation supporting public education, rural economic development, public health, courts improvement, and women's rights.

Acknowledges Goodwin's post-legislative service as Deputy Commissioner (2011) and Chief Deputy Commissioner (2019) of the North Carolina Industrial Commission, plus membership in the Women's Forum of North Carolina and numerous civic organizations.

Directs the Secretary of State to transmit a copy of the resolution to Goodwin's family and extends the General Assembly's sympathy to her survivors, including her husband of 22 years Wayne Goodwin and two children.
