The North Carolina General Assembly honors the life and memory of Jerry Carter, former member of the House of Representatives representing Rockingham County, who passed away on August 3, 2021, at age 66.

Served as chair of the Families, Children, and Aging Policy Committee and was a member of committees including Appropriations (Justice and Public Safety), Health, Judiciary II, Local Government, and Homeland Security, Military, and Veterans Affairs.

Founded Reidsville Baptist Church in 1988 and served as senior pastor for more than 30 years; also served as Chaplain of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol for 12 years.

Survived by his wife of 45 years Brenda Bruton Carter; two daughters; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his mother; and two brothers.

Secretary of State shall transmit a copy of the resolution to Jerry Carter's family; resolution effective upon ratification on June 23, 2022.
