Senate Bill 100 - Police Funding Protection Act

• Cities that reduce law enforcement funding by more than 1% of other city employees' or departments' budgets must have corresponding reductions in state-shared revenue including road funds and tax distributions.

• Cities that eliminate or reallocate 100% of police officer compensation or police department operating expenses become ineligible to receive all state-shared revenue funds in that fiscal year.

• Counties that reduce sheriff's office funding by more than 1% of other county employees' or departments' budgets must have corresponding reductions in state tax distributions.

• Cities and counties must report any law enforcement funding reductions to the Department of Revenue and legislative committees within 15 days, with an option to request joint committee review for potential fund restoration.

• The Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission and Sheriffs' Education and Training Standards Commission must submit recommendations by October 1, 2021 regarding minimum equipment inventory, maintenance standards, and replacement standards for law enforcement agencies.
