Senate Bill 126 Summary

• Abolishes 13 non-functional boards and commissions including the Board of Directors of the Certification Entity for the Phase II Settlement Funds, NC Agency for Public Telecommunications, Charlotte Regional Partnership, Commission on School Technology, and others that no longer serve active purposes.

• Eliminates the State Suggestion Review Committee and transfers its responsibilities to the Office of State Human Resources for processing state employee cost-saving suggestions.

• Modifies the State Board of Community Colleges structure by establishing a new 22-member board with representation from the Governor, General Assembly, state officials, and students, replacing the previous selection process.

• Updates membership and governance provisions for several active boards including the North Carolina Board of Science, Technology, and Innovation and the Global Transpark Authority to clarify appointment procedures and designee options.
