Senate Bill 135 Summary

• Requires individuals who became organ/eye/tissue donors in another state to re-authorize the anatomical gift statement or symbol on their North Carolina driver's license or identification card when applying for a license in North Carolina.

• Anatomical gifts made through driver's license or identification card imprinting cannot include donation of the donor's body.

• Establishes that anatomical gift statements or symbols on North Carolina driver's licenses or identification cards remain in effect until the donor requests removal through the Division of Motor Vehicles.

• Becomes effective October 1, 2021.
