Revisions to driver's license revocation for failure to appear or pay fines become effective December 1, 2021, allowing courts to establish payment plans of at least $10.00 per month toward outstanding penalties, fines, or costs.

Automatic lifting of revocation for failure to appear after 12 months if the person maintains financial responsibility, except for impaired driving offenses.

Elimination of additional revocation periods for first-time convictions of moving offenses committed while driving with a suspended or revoked license if the underlying offense has been resolved or a court-ordered payment plan is being followed.

Reduced additional revocation periods for subsequent offenses: one year for a second offense and two years for a third or subsequent offense, except permanent revocation if the underlying revocation was for impaired driving.

New offense created for driving after license restoration without maintaining financial responsibility, classified as a Class 1 misdemeanor.
