Department of Health and Human Services must implement extended Medicaid coverage for pregnant women for 12 months postpartum, beginning April 1, 2022, pursuant to the federal American Rescue Plan Act of 2021

Pregnant women with incomes at or below 196% of federal poverty guidelines remain eligible for coverage during the 12-month postpartum period, removing the limitation that services cover only pregnancy-related conditions while federal funding allows this extension

$12,344,000 in state General Fund recurring appropriations for fiscal year 2021-2022 and $50,816,000 for fiscal year 2022-2023 are provided to match $25,813,000 and $106,264,000 respectively in federal recurring funds
