Parents or guardians may request personal education plans for students to address academic or behavioral improvement and social-emotional supports.

Local school administrative units must consult with parents or guardians to develop focused intervention plans with performance benchmarks and include them in implementation to the greatest extent possible.

Schools must report implementation to the State Board of Education by July 15, 2023, and the State Board must submit a comprehensive report to the Joint Legislative Education Oversight Committee by October 15, 2023.

Personal education plans terminate at the end of the academic year they were created.

The act applies to requests submitted during the 2021-2022 or 2022-2023 school year and expires at the end of the 2022-2023 school year, with no private cause of action for monetary damages for failure to provide or implement a plan.
