Attorneys found not to have committed misconduct after a hearing before the Disciplinary Hearing Commission or Grievance Committee shall be awarded reasonable attorneys' fees incurred in that action.

The attorneys' fees provision applies only when probable cause is found and a hearing is necessary, or when a hearing is requested by the respondent, and does not apply to dismissed complaints, letters of warning/caution, or settlements.

Annual membership fees for active members of the North Carolina State Bar are reduced from $300.00 to $250.00.

The North Carolina State Bar shall adopt temporary rules to implement these provisions.

The act becomes effective October 1, 2022, and applies to licenses issued, renewed, or revoked on or after that date.
