Establishes a two-year School Performance Grade Update Pilot Program beginning in 2024-2025, starting with a small group of public school units and expanding statewide in 2025-2026

Department of Public Instruction shall develop new performance grade criteria and make them available within 30 days of the act becoming law

Selects one charter school and one local school administrative unit from each State Board of Education region for year one, balancing demographics and average daily membership to represent state diversity

Department must report outcomes to the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee by November 1, 2025 (year one) and November 1, 2026 (final report), including data collection difficulties, recommended changes, and proposed grading model

Establishes intended final grading structure with 50% based on student performance, 30% on student growth, and 20% on two additional criteria determined through the pilot program

Appropriates $150,000 in nonrecurring funds to the Department of Public Instruction for program implementation
