Requires any person who owns or possesses a firearm and lives in the same premises as a minor to store the firearm in a locked container except when being lawfully carried or used.

Makes violation of the safe storage requirement a Class A1 misdemeanor offense.

Allows injured persons to sue for treble damages, costs, and attorneys' fees if a minor accesses an unsecured firearm and uses it to cause injury to a person or property.

Requires firearm sellers and transferors to provide written notice of safe storage requirements to purchasers and mandates retailers post warning signs at purchase counters in letters at least one inch in height.

Becomes effective December 1, 2023 and applies to offenses committed on or after that date.
