House Bill 269 Summary

• Eliminates end-of-course (EOC) tests for grades 9-12 effective July 1, 2024, replacing them with a nationally recognized assessment of high school achievement and college readiness administered to all eleventh-grade students.

• Allows alternate assessments for students with severe developmental delays, those following extended content standards, or those whose course of study may not lead to college admission, with written parental request.

• Eliminates the required administration of ACT WorkKeys for career and technical education students effective with the 2023-2024 school year and removes the career readiness indicator from school performance grades.

• Updates school accountability measures to reference the nationally recognized assessment subtests (math, reading, and science) instead of individual EOC test scores in school performance grade calculations.

• Requires standardized transcripts for higher education applicants to include scores from the nationally recognized assessment administered pursuant to state statute, effective July 1, 2024.
