Allows city and town governing bodies to adopt ordinances permitting notice of public hearings and other required notices to be given through electronic means, including the town's Internet site

Electronic notice may be used in lieu of traditional publication methods such as newspapers

Ordinances cannot supersede state law requiring notice by mail to certain classes of people or posting of signs on certain property, and cannot alter publication schedules for public notices

Applies only to the towns of Apex, Cary, Fuquay-Varina, Garner, Holly Springs, Knightdale, Morrisville, Rolesville, Wake Forest, Wendell, and Zebulon

Takes effect upon becoming law
