Creates new crime of discharging firearms or barreled weapons at unoccupied emergency vehicles (law enforcement, fire, ambulance, rescue, emergency management, National Guard, Armed Forces, Adult Correction, or Juvenile Justice vehicles) at minimum muzzle velocity of 600 feet per second, punishable as Class H felony.

Expands laser device offense to include intentionally pointing lasers at probation/parole officers, detention facility workers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, National Guard members, Armed Forces members, and court counselors during performance of duties; aiming at law enforcement agency animals or search and rescue animals causing harm is Class A1 misdemeanor.

Increases penalties for assault with firearm on law enforcement, probation, parole officers, and National Guard members from Class E to Class D felony.

Increases penalties for assault with serious bodily injury on law enforcement, probation, parole officers, detention facility workers, and National Guard members from Class F to Class E felony; increases assault with physical injury penalties from Class I to Class H felony.

Adds new assault offense category for emergency workers (law enforcement, firefighter, emergency medical technician, medical responder) with deadly weapon causing serious injury (Class D felony) or with intent to kill (Class D felony).

Effective December 1, 2023 for offenses committed on or after that date.
