Allows security guards registered under Chapter 74C to carry firearms on premises of nonpublic schools operating under Part I or II of Article 39 of Chapter 115C of the General Statutes when performing official duties.

Adds educational property security functions to the definition of security guard and patrol profession, including prevention and detection of intrusion, entry, larceny, abuse, fire, trespass, or physical threat on school property.

Provides a firearm exemption in G.S. 14-269.2(g) for armed security guards at nonpublic schools when acting in their official duties on school premises.

Becomes effective December 1, 2023, with Section 1 applying to licenses granted or renewed on or after that date and Section 2 applying to offenses committed on or after that date.
