Prohibits health care agents from changing funeral arrangements or funeral establishments specified in preneed funeral contracts purchased by or on behalf of the principal.

Amends G.S. 32A-19 to clarify that health care power of attorney authority does not extend to modifying preneed funeral contract terms.

If the designated funeral establishment in a preneed contract is no longer in business at time of death, a competent person in the statutory priority order (starting with surviving spouse) shall designate an alternative funeral establishment.

Amends G.S. 90-210.124 to explicitly state that authorizing agents cannot cancel certain rights, including the right of health care agents to change funeral arrangements in preneed contracts.

Becomes effective October 1, 2023.
