Session Law 2023-98 - House Bill 57

• Town of Harmony municipal elections shall be held in even-numbered years at the time of general elections, with the mayor serving four-year terms and town council members serving staggered four-year terms on a nonpartisan plurality basis.

• Officials elected in the 2023 Harmony elections serve one-year terms; the 2024 election will elect a mayor and four council members with vote-based staggering (top two vote-getters serve four years, next two serve two years).

• Town of Love Valley municipal elections shall be held in even-numbered years at the time of general elections, with the mayor serving four-year terms and commissioners serving staggered four-year terms on a nonpartisan plurality basis.

• Officials elected in the 2023 Love Valley elections serve one-year terms; the 2024 election will elect a mayor and five commissioners with vote-based staggering (top two vote-getters serve four years, next three serve two years).

• Both towns' regular election cycles begin in 2026 and 2028 on a quadrennial schedule following the staggered term implementation in 2024, effective upon enactment on July 13, 2023.
