Department of Health and Human Services shall coordinate a study examining the exemption allowing government employees without social work degrees to use the "social worker" title under G.S. 90B-10(c).

Study shall evaluate the efficacy and use of the current exemption and identify any modifications the General Assembly should consider.

Department must consult with the Department of Adult Correction, North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board, North Carolina Public Health Association, North Carolina Association of County Departments of Social Services, National Association of Social Workers North Carolina, and other local stakeholders.

Department shall submit report with recommendations and findings to the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health and Human Services, Joint Legislative Administrative Procedure Oversight Committee, and Fiscal Research Division no later than April 1, 2024.
