Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health shall conduct a study examining polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and its impact on North Carolina women, including diagnosis rates, misdiagnosis rates, causes, cures, and effective symptom management therapies over the last five years.

Study must examine whether PCOS disproportionately affects particular populations of women in the state and the effect of PCOS on fertility rates.

Department shall report findings and any proposed legislation to the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health and Human Services by December 1, 2023.

Department shall design and oversee a statewide public awareness campaign providing medically accurate information about PCOS and disseminating study findings to the general public.

$150,000 in nonrecurring funds appropriated from the General Fund for fiscal year 2023-2024 to support the study and awareness campaign, effective July 1, 2023.
