• Creates new "team-based practice" definition for physician assistants in medical practices (majority physician-owned with physician oversight), hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and other health facilities with credentialing programs, but excludes pain management practices.

• Allows qualified physician assistants (with 4,000+ hours clinical experience and 1,000+ hours in specific medical specialty) to practice in team-based settings without individual physician supervision, instead collaborating with healthcare team members as determined by the practice.

• Exempts team-based physician assistants from requirement to identify supervising physician before initiating practice and permits them to prescribe, order, and administer drugs and medical devices without physician authorization.

• Requires team-based physician assistants in perioperative settings (including surgical or anesthesia-related services) to remain under physician supervision.

• Amends multiple statutes to recognize physician assistants as qualified personnel for health assessments, obstetrical ultrasonography, and hospital care, and clarifies they cannot perform final interpretations of diagnostic imaging studies except plain film radiographs.
