H917: GSC Technical Corrections 2024

• Repeals G.S. 1-18 and makes numerous technical corrections to General Statutes language, including replacing outdated terms like "coverture" with "marriage" and "shall" with "is" for grammatical modernization.

• Modifies spousal election procedures in G.S. 29-30 regarding life estate claims and clarifies petition requirements, filing procedures, and jury allotment processes for surviving spouses.

• Updates divorce and family law provisions in G.S. 50-11 and G.S. 52-10 to clarify effects of absolute divorce on alimony, equitable distribution, and spousal contracts.

• Makes corrections to administrative hearing references throughout the General Statutes, redirecting citations from G.S. 150B-36 and G.S. 150B-37 to G.S. 150B-34 for consistency.

• Increases State-County Special Assistance Program payment rates from $1,182 to $1,285 monthly (basic rate) and from $1,515 to $1,647 monthly (enhanced rate), effective retroactively January 1, 2023.
