Senate Bill 108 Summary

• Adds tribal enrollment cards issued by state or federal recognized tribes as acceptable identification for purchasing alcohol and tobacco in North Carolina

• Modifies G.S. 18B-302(d) to include tribal enrollment cards alongside driver's licenses, military IDs, and passports as valid age verification for alcohol sales

• Modifies G.S. 14-313 to recognize tribal enrollment cards as acceptable proof of age for tobacco product and cigarette wrapping paper purchases

• Permits tribal enrollment cards to be used with biometric identification systems previously registered with sellers for age verification purposes

• Becomes effective July 1, 2023, and applies to purchases made on or after that date
