Replaces the gray squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) with the black bear (Ursus americanus) as North Carolina's official state mammal by amending G.S. 145-5.

Named in honor of Brandon Marshall, a Hyde County resident who died on January 25, 2021, and was dedicated to conservation efforts in North Carolina.

Recognizes Brandon Marshall's work with Ducks Unlimited, the Wetlands Reserve Program, the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program, and the North Carolina Agriculture Cost Share Program.

Honors Brandon Marshall's respect for black bears and his efforts to educate the public about these animals and promote safe and sustainable hunting practices.

Becomes effective upon passage into law.
