State Board of Education must adopt age-appropriate informational literacy standards for kindergarten through grade 12 covering skills to recognize, locate, evaluate, and use information effectively.

Required curriculum standards include the research process, critical thinking skills, primary and secondary sources, distinguishing facts from opinions, accessing peer-reviewed resources, and ethical information production.

Standards must also cover digital, visual, media, textual, and technological literacy along with economic, legal, and social issues surrounding information use.

Local school administrative units must consult with library/media personnel when developing curriculum to implement the informational literacy standards.

Act becomes effective upon enactment and applies beginning with the 2024-2025 school year.
