Requires school finance officers' employment terms and conditions to mirror those of assistant and associate superintendents under G.S. 115C-278(b) and (c).

School finance officers must be appointed or designated by the superintendent and approved by the board of education.

Employment must be stated in a written contract filed with the Superintendent of Public Instruction.

School finance officers cannot be dismissed during their contract term except for misconduct, unfitness, incompetence, neglect of duty, or failure to carry out validly assigned duties.

The effective date applies to contracts entered into on or after the bill becomes law.
