Public high school students may participate in sports at the public high school closest to their school that offers the sport, subject to terms applicable to regularly enrolled students, with schools authorized to charge reasonable participation fees to non-enrolled students.

Private school and home school students may participate in sports at their base public high school or, if that school lacks the sport, at the closest public high school offering it, with the same fee structure available for non-enrolled participants.

Home school and private school students are permitted to participate in extracurricular activities not offered at their school at the base public high school for their address or the closest school offering the activity.

Public high school students may participate in extracurricular activities not offered at their own school at the closest public high school offering that activity.

Local boards of education must publish a schedule of approved fees for sports and extracurricular activities for non-enrolled students on their website by October 15 of each school year and within 30 days of any revision; effective beginning the 2023-2024 school year.
