Allows Pitt County Schools to open as early as August 10, moving the start date approximately two weeks earlier than the current statewide requirement of the Monday closest to August 26

If August 10 falls on a weekend, the district may open on either the Friday before or the Monday after August 10

Removes the State Board of Education waiver process that previously allowed earlier start dates only upon showing "good cause" (such as frequent weather-related closures)

Applies exclusively to Pitt County and takes effect beginning with the 2025-2026 school year
