Allows Camden County Schools to open the school year as early as the Monday closest to August 19, instead of the standard August 26 date required for other North Carolina public schools

Eliminates the requirement for Camden County to demonstrate "good cause" or obtain a waiver from the State Board of Education to start earlier

Removes the previous waiver criteria that required showing schools had been closed at least 8 days per year in four of the last 10 years due to weather or emergencies

Applies exclusively to Camden County Schools beginning with the 2025-2026 school year

Retains the existing closing date requirement of no later than the Friday closest to June 11
