Requires a mandatory 14-consecutive-day winter break starting in December with no instructional days or teacher workdays for Lincoln County Schools and Iredell-Statesville Schools

Allows local boards to use winter break days for makeup if schools closed 3+ days for inclement weather before the break began

Changes the earliest school opening date from the Monday closest to August 26 to the Wednesday closest to August 13

Changes the latest closing date from the Friday closest to June 11 to June 1

Effective upon becoming law, applying beginning with the 2025-2026 school year
