Exempts Asheville City Schools from North Carolina's statewide school calendar restrictions that currently require opening no earlier than the Monday closest to August 26 and closing no later than the Friday closest to June 11

Removes the requirement for Asheville City Schools to demonstrate "good cause" (such as 8 days of closures per year in 4 of the last 10 years due to weather or emergencies) to obtain a State Board waiver for earlier start dates

Applies exclusively to Asheville City Schools, not to other districts in the state

Takes effect upon becoming law and applies beginning with the 2025-2026 school year
