Repeals G.S. 153A-250, which currently authorizes counties and cities to franchise or operate ambulance services

County managers and EMS administrators will no longer be required to approve modifications (increases or decreases) in the level of care provided by EMS providers within their emergency management system

The approval exemption does not apply to EMS providers owned or operated by a city within the county or the county responsible for the emergency management system

Existing franchise agreements or contracts for ambulance service cannot be renewed after the act becomes law

Effective upon becoming law, applying to new or renewed franchise agreements and any level of care modifications occurring after that date
