Law enforcement, probation/parole, and correctional officers holding an Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate or Advanced Corrections Certificate may purchase up to four years of creditable service toward retirement

Eligible members must have five or more years of membership service in the Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System or the Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System

Purchases require a lump sum payment equal to the full liability increase to the retirement system plus an administrative fee set by the Board of Trustees

Employers may pay all or part of the cost on behalf of eligible employees

State Treasurer must obtain a favorable IRS private letter ruling confirming the act does not jeopardize the retirement systems' tax status; substantive provisions become effective January 1, 2027
