Pitt County Board of Education elections will change from nonpartisan to partisan, with candidates nominated at the same time and in the same manner as other county officers

The nine-member board will continue to be elected from single-member districts, with only residents of each district voting for their representative

Board members will take office on the first Monday in December following their election and serve staggered four-year terms

Vacancies will be filled in accordance with G.S. 115C-37.1, adding Pitt County to the list of counties subject to that statute's vacancy procedures

The act becomes effective the first Monday in December 2026, with elections conducted under the new partisan system beginning in 2026; terms of members elected in 2024 are not affected
