Iredell-Statesville Schools may operate one Trades High School serving grades 10-12 with a primary focus on Career and Technical Education, exempt from certain state curriculum requirements under Chapter 115C.

At least 50% of teachers must hold teacher licenses, and all core subject teachers (math, science, social studies, language arts) must be college graduates.

Unlicensed teachers must complete preservice training in areas including special education identification, behavior management, de-escalation techniques, and appropriate use of seclusion and restraint.

The school board will develop criteria for an alternative Trades Diploma requiring at least 22 credits, with requirements submitted to the State Board of Education before implementation.

Effective beginning with the 2025-2026 school year.
