Routes must be pre-approved by the chief of police in municipalities or the sheriff in unincorporated county areas

Certificates expire after two years and require completion of a refresher course for renewal

Effective December 1, 2025; DMV authorized to charge fees for certification and renewal and must adopt implementing rules
