Movie theaters with more than 10 weekly showings must provide open captioning (on-screen text of dialogue, music, and sound effects) for at least one-fourth of all showings of movies screened four or more times per week, capped at four captioned showings per movie

At least half of required captioned showings must occur during peak attendance hours: Friday 5:59 PM–11:01 PM and Saturday/Sunday 10:59 AM–11:01 PM

Theaters must advertise captioned showings in the same manner as other showings and maintain compliance records for at least three years

Violations carry civil penalties of $100 to $500 per offense; movies produced without captioning are exempt
