Hertford County Schools would be permitted to align their academic calendar with Roanoke-Chowan Community College's calendar, bypassing standard state opening and closing date requirements

Current state law requires public schools to open no earlier than the Monday closest to August 26 and close no later than the Friday closest to June 11

Amends G.S. 115C-84.2(d) to add an exception allowing local boards to match their school calendar with a community college serving their city or county

Applies exclusively to Hertford County Schools as a local bill

Takes effect upon becoming law and applies beginning with the 2025-2026 school year
