Provides limited immunity from medical malpractice liability for nurses acting within their scope of practice when following directions from a supervising health care provider

Protects nurses from malpractice damages when they raise good-faith concerns about another health care provider's order that may be inconsistent with patient safety

Immunity does not apply if the nurse acts with gross negligence, recklessness, or intentional misconduct

Codifies the legal standard from Byrd v. Marion General Hospital (1932), which was overturned by the NC Supreme Court in 2022

Effective October 1, 2025, applying to acts or omissions occurring on or after that date
