State law enforcement officers age 59.5+ may elect to receive retirement benefits while continuing to work without separating from service; retired officers may return to work after 6 months separation and continue receiving benefits

Local law enforcement and justice officers age 59.5+ may receive retirement benefits while working; retired local officers may return after just 1 month separation and continue benefits

Officers receiving in-service retirement benefits stop making employee contributions but cannot accrue additional service credit, participate in disability income plans, or receive supplemental retirement contributions

Special separation allowances (0.85% of base pay per year of service) continue for qualifying officers who return to law enforcement work after retirement, with payments ceasing at age 62 or death

Appropriates $10 million recurring annually from the General Fund for 2025-2027 to address implementation costs; key provisions expire December 31, 2029
